The youth rugby season is in winter, with practices beginning December 4
th
, and games from January to the April 1
st
. Since we are open to all-comers, regardless of skill, previous experience, or gender, the practice sessions are geared to bringing everyone up to a level where they can safely and enjoyably participate.
There will be two to four teams at each of the following age groups:

U8: (grades 1-2). Touch rugby, 8 per side.

U10: (grades 3-4). Tackle rugby, 10 per side (uncontested scrums & line-outs).

U12: (grades 5-6). Tackle rugby, 12 per side (contested scrums & line-outs).

We will also be running a competitive Middle School (MS) team primarily made up of 7th and 8th graders, 12-15 per side (contested scrums & line-outs). 6
th
graders weighing 140 pounds or more are encouraged to play in the MS division.
Age groups are determined by the player’s age on September 1
st
2011; but variations at the coach’s discretion are permissible, depending on size and/or skill level. We are guided by the rules for youth rugby set out by USA Rugby: please follow links above for the relevant age groups.
Practices and games
are planned for Sundays 12p-2p
. The U12 and MS teams will hold their own additional mid-week practices. The game schedule will be a mix of inter-squad games and home and away games with neighboring clubs in Palo Alto, Mountain View and the East Bay. The season finishes with a competitive tournament.
